Police deny Lobatse station commander arrest

As the suspects list in the murder of Tlotso Karema continue to grow, Botswana Police Service 's (BPS) has dismissed reports that Lobatse police station commander Superintendent, Baakile Moshashane is among the arrested suspects.

In a shocking development last night, Lobatse area Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Thapelo Matsheka was arrested and is currently detained in police cells as one of the alleged suspects in Karema's murder.

A day before the MP's arrest, Matsheka's former campaign manager and Peleng East councilor Thuso Mantsi, Ontiretse Mosimanewamacha and Tlotso's Aunt, Nono Karema were also arrested in relation to the matter.

Reached for a comment, BPS public relations officer, Senior Superintendent Near Bagali confirmed the arrests and revealed that they have detained the above as suspects in the matter .

"Yes we have arrested and detained some of them as suspects but it is all I can say for now. However, allegations that Moshashane was arrested at the boarder and that he is no longer an officer is not true. Moshashane has never been suspended from duty nor arrested while trying to flea as alleged. He is currently in office and he is in high spirit doing his job," Bagali said.
