FRANCISTOWN: Police in Kazungula have arrested a 36-year-old man linked to 27 break-ins in their policing area.

According to Kazungula Police Station commander, Phetogo Phillimon said that the Zimbabwean man Leonard Ndebele was caught red-handed trying to break into a house at Newstance ward on March 29. He indicated that the Zimbabwean man is linked to 27 other house break-ins in which electronic goods valued at P85,000 were taken.

Following the arrest of Ndebele, the police managed to recover some of the stolen goods worth P6,850. The station commander explained that they suspect that the alleged culprit was working with 13 accomplices who are still at large and believed to be in Zimbabwe. Phillimon added: “These men allegedly steal the goods and sell them to a certain man in Harare who then resells them.” According to Phillimon, most of the items were stolen when their owners were not at home or were fast asleep. He said that they have engaged National Interpol Harare to assist in the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the 13 accomplices believed to be in Zimbabwe.
