Pedestrian sustains injuries in Thamaga road accident

The incident occurred around 7:20pm at Rungwana Ward on the A10 Road. Southern Division Traffic Officer, Assistant Commissioner Boiki Mojalemotho, said a probe has been launched to ascertain what could have caused the accident. He explained that the pedestrian was hit by an Opel Corsa driven by a 31-year-old Zimbabwean man. The vehicle was travelling from east to west when it hit the victim, who was trying to cross the road. The pedestrian sustained a deep cut to his right cheek and was rushed to Thamaga Primary Hospital, where he remains hospitalised and is receiving treatment. Mojalemotho has since urged motorists to exercise extreme caution when driving at night, particularly in areas where pedestrians are likely to be crossing or walking along the roadside. He also appealed to pedestrians to avoid wearing dark clothing when walking along roads at night, saying they should make themselves as visible as possible to motorists to reduce the risk of accidents.
