Palai’s motion never reached the debate stage

Gaborone City Council (GCC) Mayor, Oarabile Motlaleng, might have survived an attempt to table a motion of no confidence against him, but the proceedings exposed apparent cracks within the ruling Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), raising fresh questions about his leadership.

The motion, initiated by independent councillor Tshenolo Palai, never reached the debate stage after councillors rejected a request to include it on the council agenda.

Therefore, it failed to proceed on procedural grounds.
