Oodi man beaten to pulp for refusing to share beer

A 33-year-old man of Oodi is battling for his life at Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital (DRM) after he was assaulted for refusing to share a beer in Matebeleng late Saturday afternoon.

Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae revealed that the incident occurred at one of the local bars in Matebeleng around 5pm. He stated that the seriously injured victim, who couldn’t speak, was rushed to DRM. “We have since arrested the suspect, a 29-year-old man of Matebeleng village and charged him with assault occasioning,” he explained.

“The suspect allegedly asked the victim to share his beer with him and he refused, something that did not go down well with the suspect as a misunderstanding started and he ended up beating and kicking the victim leaving him unconscious with blood coming out of his mouth and nose.”
