This dream crumbled just under his watch, as life instead catapulted him to greater educational heights. “My grandfather, though, insisted that I should be a District Commissioner when I grow up, something that I didn’t know or even was capable of imagining. I navigated school life with some measure of ease. Varsity life was hectic though. We pursued leisure to the extreme, sometimes at the expense of our studies,” he reminisced about the activities of years of yore. “We made it nevertheless. I am now a recipient of two Masters Degrees - one in Social Work and the other in Public Administration.”

In fact, for a greater part of Lucas’ academic life, he excelled at school not for the benefits that were to later accrue to him but for the singular reason of making his mother happy.
