A 25-year-old woman is scheduled to appear before Extension II Magistrate’s Court tomorrow to face a single count of murder. The woman allegedly stabbed her 42-year-old lover with a sharp object at a house in Old Naledi location in Gaborone early Sunday morning following a misunderstanding.
The Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Counsel Moyo confirmed the murder case.
Moyo said the woman was in police custody and helping the police with investigations while the deceased body is at Princess Marina Hospital (PMH) mortuary awaiting post mortem.
The police chief added that on arrival at the scene, they rushed the deceased to the city hospital where he was certified dead on arrival. Moyo said investigations were still fresh as the police received the report just hours prior to the interview.
“We just received the report few hours ago hence cannot go into details on what really transpired,” said Moyo.
“Our preliminary investigations have established that the duo were lovers and had misunderstandings that lead to a fight that left one killed. We do not know yet what the misunderstanding was all about.”
Meanwhile, Moyo said Mogoditshane police are investigating a robbery case that occurred at Nkoyaphiri location at the village on Saturday night.
He said two unknown men allegedly attacked a family in their sleep, threatening them with sharp objects and demanding their electronics.
“Two unknown men who are still on the ran, broke the door and attacked the family whilst in their sleep and robbed them four cell phones worth P12, 540 with two of them being iphones,” Moyo said.
He said luckily the perpetrators did not assault or injure them, but only threatened them with sharp objects before running away with their electronics.
Still on Saturday, Moyo stated that in another similar incident, Mogoditshane police are investigating another robbery case that occurred at Mmopane in which a woman who owns a tuck shop was attacked was robbed P5, 700.
He said in a similar case four unknown men attacked the woman in her sleep, threatened her with a sharp object and robbed off her money.“The victim could not identify the culprits but rather said she saw four men. Investigations on the matters are ongoing to locate the culprits and we plead for help from members of the community to arrest them,” said Moyo.
