No solution to 999-line troubles – Makgophe

The Commissioner of Police, Keabetswe Makgophe has bluntly told the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that the Botswana Police Service (BPS) does not have a solution for the long-running crisis it has faced with its 999 emergency line.

Appearing before the Committee yesterday, Makgophe said the BPS has been experiencing technical problems with the line but was clueless on how to solve the matter.

“We do not have a solution at the moment. When you call the line even if it is engaged it continues to ring. We have received concerns over the line and have engaged our technical unit,” he said.
