Former MP for Kanye North Kentse Rammidi has cautioned Botswana Congress Party (BCP) members to tread very carefully when they discuss opposition cooperation on social media.

Speaking during the launch of council candidate for Moshupa West Olebogeng Sethibe last Saturday, Rammidi said the issue of opposition cooperation with Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) would be discussed at the right forum which is the party congress later this year. The opposition cooperation is a contentious issue and the BCP has taken too much flak from all quarters for not being a member of the UDC. The UDC is made up of three opposition parties, Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD). Botswana National Front (BNF) and Botswana Peoples Party (BPP).

Rammidi threatened to quit the party if it joined the umbrella without any plan. “I will quit the BCP if it cooperates with the UDC without any plan. We cannot just go into cooperation for the sake of replacing the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) without any plan,” said Rammidi. He also dismissed allegations that he would contest the BCP presidency against former Gaborone Central MP Dumelang Saleshando. He said he was too young to fill the boots of Saleshando.
