FRANCISTOWN: A 23-year-old man is expected to be charged with murder before the Francistown Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, following the death of a 40-year-old mechanic he allegedly caused.

Kutlwano Police Station commander, Superintendent Neo Serumola said the suspect was arrested a week ago in connection with the alleged assault of the deceased. He further said the death occurred during a brawl at a local tavern in Block 1 location, resulting in the older man sustaining serious injuries. “At the time, the 40-year-old man was brought to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) but the situation wasn't reported to the police. We weren't made aware of the situation until three days after his condition turned critical. The 23-year-old was then placed under police custody," he added. Serumola went on to say that the 40-year-old was being treated at NHR before he was referred to Francistown Academic Teaching Hospital because of his critical condition. He said that the hospital called the police on Sunday to inform them that the man succumbed to injuries. The station commander stated that the suspects' charges would be changed and that he was scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
