During Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe’s launch on Saturday at Molapo Piazza Mmolotsi once again took the chance to emphasise that the proposed new law is ‘satanic’ and ‘devilish’.

In the draft Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2024, there is a proposal to have Section 68 of the Constitution amended by inserting immediately after subsection one a new subsection which states that legislators will be fired for misbehaviour. Mmolotsi said the proposed law is influenced by the devil and that the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) MPs will use it to remove opposition legislators from the National Assembly. “What kind of a law disregards the wishes of 9,000 people and grants an individual the power to reverse the constituents’ decisions?” he questioned.
