FRANCISTOWN: About 3,000 people are expected to participate in the inaugural Mayor's Charity Walk, which aims to raise funds for waterborne toilets for the underprivileged and promote historical sites.

The charitable walk, to be held under the theme ‘Walk for Humanity, Know your City,’ will take place on October 25 at Francistown Council Stadium. Addressing members of the media recently, City Mayor Gaone Majere said that the charitable walk will not only improve public health but also enhance human dignity, promote social and economic development, and encourage good hygiene. He emphasised that the walk is part of a broader initiative to encourage active lifestyles, strengthen community bonds, and raise awareness about humanitarian values.

Majere stated that the charity walk will be incorporated within a family fun day featuring activities such as jumping castles and quad bikes for children, walking, networking, and community building. He elaborated that the event will feature 5km, 10km, and 21km walks. He stated that the routes will pass through Nyangabgwe Hill, Ntshe River, Wanela Hanger, the White House, and other historical sites.
