Maunatlala Police record three criminal cases over the holidays

Maunatlala Police Station in the Central district has recorded three criminal cases during the just ended festive holidays. According to the Acting Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent, Lovemore Johane, his station recorded one case of murder, another case and a case of defilement during the holidays.

He said the murder occurred in the village of Maunatlala. He said according to the witnesses, the deceased allegedly tried to force his ex girlfriend who was attending the annual football tournament into going with him to his place of residence. The ex-girlfriend reportedly sought the help of her other friends including the accused when the deceased allegedly pulled out a sharp object and attempted to stab the accused. The accused allegedly used a sharp object to stab the deceased who was later certified dead. The accused person has since appeared before the Palapye Magistrate court and has been remanded in custody.

The other two cases of rape and defilement occurred in Tamasane and Lerala respectively and investigations are continuing according to the acting station commander. Johane said generally they record very low crime incidents in his policing area except Lerala.
