Frustrated President Mokgweetsi Masisi has urged Batswana that as the country heads to the polls, they should lean towards voting for women.

Visibly frustrated Masisi was speaking at the launch of the Merck Foundation in Botswana on Wednesday, an event diametrically not related to politics.

Masisi revealed that women are practically the backbone of every department and definitely more than just mothers and that is why he always advocates for women to be in higher positions. “I need not illustrate how under my government women continue to distinguish themselves and break barriers through assumption of high leadership positions,” Masisi said. He added that in his tenure, he has witnessed the growth of women though a handful of them hold higher positions.
