Market vendors appeal for time extension

FRANCISTOWN: Francistown vendors who operate at the central market have demanded that they be given extra time before they could vacate their stalls.

For some years, the Francistown City Council (FCC) has been trying to relocate the vendors without success. Early last week, the FCC told the vendors that they should have vacated their stalls before the end of this month. In the past, the vendors have even refused suggestions that they should move to a place near the Francistown/Ramokgwebana border road on grounds that the area is crime infested.

The FCC has granted the central market lease to a private property developer who reportedly wants to start developments in the property.
