Man struck with spade sustains head injuries

A 26-year-old man is currently hospitalised with head injuries after he was hit with a spade following a fight on Saturday early morning in Metlobo village.

The victim had on Friday night been entangled in a misunderstanding with the suspect at a local shebeen and later on, at around 3am on Saturday, the victim and his friend followed the suspect to his place and woke him up for a fight.

Narrating what transpired, Goodhope Police Station assistant commander, Assistant Superintendent Kenneth Edward said whilst in the middle of the fight, the suspect – a 39-year-old man – grabbed a spade and hit the victim on the head, sending him to the hospital.

"The victim is currently hospitalised at Goodhope Primary Hospital in a stable condition. The suspect has been charged with unlawful wounding and is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing," Ranku said.
