Man given eight months for malicious damage

English who destroyed prison property in a fit of rage last year appeared before senior magistrate Peggy Madandume yesterday. "I have taken into consideration the fact that he is a first offender," said Madandume.

Though the sentence was wholly suspended it is unlikely that it will make a difference for English, as he is a 'permanent' resident of the Centre for Illegal Immigrants as he has failed to prove that he is a born citizen of this country.  The controversial English has been residing at the centre since he cannot prove he is a Motswana and the woman whom he claims to be his mother has flatly denied the allegations.
