Man gets 15 years for raping minor

Gofaone Madikwa was convicted for raping and wounding an 11-year-old girl from Seolwane Primary School. He was also found guilty of unlawfully wounding an eight-year-old pupil at the school. The magistrate said the accused failed to prove his innocence and the rape, which involves juveniles, attracts an imprisonment term of not less than 15 years. The magistrate said she considered the gravity of the offence in passing sentence. The accused appeared in person and pleaded guilty to all the charges. He is currently serving two years imprisonment for arson.
