Man arrested for impregnating girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter

The victim's mother, a 40-year-old woman of Meriting ward in Gantsi, is aware of the pregnancy and concealed the matter allegedly crying terribly when the police arrested her boyfriend.

The arrest comes after the victim's uncle discovered the little girl's pregnancy on Saturday and reported the matter to the police who acted swiftly to take in the suspect.

Gantsi Police Station commander, Superintendent Modiro Lekone said they have since discovered that the young teen currently doing Standard Three at one of the local primary schools in Gantsi is four months pregnant.

"The victim has disclosed that the suspect, her stepfather has been sexually assaulting her since June this year. We have also charged her mother with failure to report a case of child abuse and exploitation under the Children's Act," Lekone said.
