Knife with blood
A passerby found a young man hanging from a tree on Saturday morning and reported the matter to the police. On arrival at the crime scene, police officers discovered the lifeless body of a young woman about five metres away from where the 23-year-old man appeared to have committed suicide. Mahalapye Police Station commander, Superintendent Ntoko Simane said they received the report from the passerby who made the discovery of the young man at around 8am. He stated that through their preliminary investigations they have since established that the duo was in a relationship. "The 19-year girl was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stabbed wounds that are suspected to have been from a sharp object. We suspect that the boyfriend stabbed his girlfriend to death before committing suicide," Simane said. "We have since launched a probe to establish what caused the misunderstanding between the couple. They were rushed to Mahalapye hospital where they were both certified dead on arrival by the doctors," he added. Simane revealed that intimate partner murder cases remain a concern in his policing area, especially amongst the youth. He stated that it is of great concern that despite efforts in place at national level to curb these cases they continue to spiral out of control.
