The alleged vengeful lover who took social media by storm last week after ripping her lover’s bed and clothes into pieces leaving them to float in a pool of water is in ‘hot soup’.

The actions of the 26-year-old woman of Molepolole have been described as those of a ‘bully lover’ by Batswana across social media platforms who had mixed feelings and reactions to the incident. Some rooted for her while the majority condemned her actions and viewed them as Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The police confirmed investigations into the malicious damage case, saying the young woman’s case will soon be registered with the Village Magistrate’s Court. Gaborone West Police station commander, superintendent Knight Molosiwa said the woman slashed her lover’s bed, ripped his clothes into pieces, which are belongings worth P3,150. “It looks like the duo was in a love relationship and had some sort of misunderstanding prior to this incident. The incident occurred on January 13 at Block 6, in Gaborone,” he said. Molosiwa said cases of this nature which are mostly perpetrated by women are worrisome. He stated that it appears as if since women are not capable of physically abusing their partners when having misunderstandings, they usually opt to vent their anger on their partners’ properties.
