Both the names of the former president and former first lady are engraved on the accommodation halls at LKC. The boys' halls are named after Ketumile while those for girls are named Olebile. The halls can each accommodate 48 students. Gaone Masire, the daughter of Sir Ketumile and Lady Olebile on behalf of the Masire family stated that she will always be amazed at how even after her parents’ passing, they still get the love and appreciation from the nation they served.
She highlighted that naming the accommodation halls after their parents could have not been more befitting as her parents believed in education with all of their might. “Today’s dedication of these boarding halls, now proudly bearing the name of my parents, Olebile and Ketumile Masire, truly believed that education is the cornerstone of fulfilling life,” Gaone added. “Their unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning was evident in every aspect of their work and their lives.” Moreover, Gaone acknowledged what LKC did as she went to thank them for engraving her parents' names in the accommodation halls out of their own interest without being instructed to.
“I want to thank Jeff Ramsay in particular and the board and faculty of LKC for recognising their (her parents') contributions and for cherishing their memory in such an impactful way. I know there were so many other serving names and yet you choose these two,” she said. She further alluded that the timing of the momentous ceremony could have not come at a better time as the past week made it even more special as it was a week when their birthdays were celebrated. She advised students of LKC to showcase exactly what her parents were advocating for and reach the pinnacle point of academic success. “To students of LKC, you are living proof of the dreams my parents had for the future.
They believed in the boundless potential each of you holds and were passionate about empowering you through education to achieve greatness,” she said. She hoped that her parents' spirits would live on in the halls of LKC after they had just been named after them and inspire everyone to soar high.
