KwDC Orders Church To Demolish Building

Kweneng District Council (KwDC) has ordered the Mission to the World of Ministries International Church in Mogoditshane to demolish their building. This comes after a portion of the wall of the building collapsed recently, claiming the life of a man and leaving another hospitalised with serious injuries.

KwDC termed the building an illegal structure as it was deferred in 2012. KwDC council secretary, Wazha Tema, told The Monitor that they have written to the church to demolish the building within 14 days upon receiving the letter. The letter was written on October 29, 2015.

Tema said Section 10 of Local Government Act of 2012, which gives council the powers to secure and promote health, safety and wellbeing/good order and security of members of the public, guides them. He said even though a life has been lost, the law does not give the council powers to charge except to order for demolition of the structure or deny the church an Occupational Certificate. “This is a massive building that will be used by the congregation. If not demolished it could increase mortalities, so we have since ordered the church to demolish it,” he said. He said failure to demolish the church within 14 days, the council would seek an enforcement order at the cost of the church. “It is my obligation as the council secretary to make sure that the owners of the building do as ordered.”

Congratulations Anicia Gaothuse!

The contest had 10 beautiful young girls as finalists and unfortunately only one could wear the crown. The judges picked Anicia Gaothuse. Each of the 10 beautiful young women had supporters...
