Killer father arraigned for double murder

FRANCISTOWN: The 35-year-old Unangoni Salathi was arraigned before Francistown Magistrate's Court for the murder of his two children, today.

Salathi who hails from Matobo was apprehended by the residents of Makuta villages on Tuesday morning before they handed him to Tutume police .The 35-year-old has been on the run since Saturday after he allegedly murdered his son and a daughter.

According to the charge sheet read in court this morning ,Salathi on or about June 2024 at or near Monarch Area 8 ,Francistown unlawfully murdered Loapi and Setso Enias .During the arraignment , State prosecutor Ditshotlo Mpale said that the investigating officer (IO) is not available as he was still attending post mortem for the two deceased children.

Mpale also said that investigations are at initial stage therefore, Salathi cannot be granted bail. Chief Magistrate Game Mooketsi remanded the accused person in court and he will appear before the same court on the July 18.
