Khama travels to Washington to attend CI meeting

President Ian Khama departed yesterday to participate in the Board of Directors Meeting of Conservation International which is scheduled to take place in Washington D.C., USA.His Excellency the President will be accompanied by senior government officials.

His Excellency the President will be expected to give some reflections on the efforts that the Government of the Republic of Botswana has undertaken to ensure prosperity for all through natural resource management. In particular, the President will brief the meeting about the outcome of the recent Kasane Conference on the Illegal Wildlife Trade.

It should be recalled that the Statement of the Kasane Conference was premised on the commitments of the London Conference Declaration. The meeting will also discuss the state of commitment to the Gaborone Declaration for Sustainability in Africa which was the outcome of the Summit hosted by Botswana in 2012. His Excellency the President is expected back in Gaborone on May 31, 2015.
