Khama, Mugabe attend Lesotho golden jubilee

President Ian Khama will travel to Maseru, Lesotho to attend the Kingdom’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations, which will take place today. Lesotho gained independence from Britain on October 4, 1966.

He will be accompanied by the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi; the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Thapelo Olopeng; Mayor of Gaborone City, Kagiso Thutlwe as well as other senior government officials. The President and his entourage will return to Botswana on the same day, October 4, 2016, a statement from Office of the President said yesterday.

Meanwhile,  Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is set to attend Lesotho’s 50th independence anniversary later this week, after he recently “turned down” a similar invite from Botswana, a report said on Monday.
