Police in Broadhurst are investigating a case in which a two-bedroomed house burnt to ashes in Oodi on Saturday night and the owner suspects her ex-boyfriend may have caused the fire.

Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said on the fateful night the owner of the house, a 31-year-old woman was out attending a funeral wake in Oodi. “On arrival home in the morning around 4am she found her rented house burnt to ashes and her neighbours had already called the Fire department and attended the incident," Lokae said.

"Her property, including furniture, has been destroyed and she suspects her ex-boyfriend, a 29-year-old man, is the one who set the house on fire." "Investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what really was the cause of the fire and we have located and brought the ex-boyfriend for questions. He is currently in custody for investigations,” he added.
