Heavy rains destroy 23 Old Naledi homes

Gaborone City Mayor, Augustin Abraham says yesterday’s heavy rains damaged 23 homes in Old Naledi leaving people homeless.

Briefing the media today, the mayor said the affected families were taken to one of the churches in Old Naledi. “The houses which were smoothly affected at Old Naledi ward. In some instances in Old Naledi ward, some houses were waterlogged. The 23 families which are accommodated in one of the churches in Old Naledi come from the same area,” the mayor said.

Abraham however indicated that it is not just Old Naledi but some other wards that are mostly affected as well include Notwane, Maruapula, Tsholofelo South and Bosele. He said property such as furniture and vehicles have been damaged. According to the mayor, the vehicles were damaged by trees that fell on them.
