Govt reaffirms commitment to refugees

DUKWI: Government is committed to helping refugees live well and will continue providing a safe haven for those in need, Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security director, Ross Sanoto has said.

Speaking at the commemoration of World Refugee Day last Friday, Sanoto said Botswana also understands that the asylum landscape is premised on a temporary arrangement and as a result refugees have to be assisted to move on with their lives beyond the asylum regime.

“As government we commit to providing protection to refugees and to ensure that whilst still in Botswana they continue to enjoy humane conditions,” he said.
