Gov’t cuts spending on former HEs

After spending sleepless nights advocating for more benefits for his then boss, Ian Khama, things have turned around for President Mokgweetsi Masisi. Cynics reading the latest estimated budget allocations for the office of former president Khama would be forgiven for thinking the two men’s feud will exploit everything at their disposal to frustrate each other.

According to available budgetary records, the budget for the Office of the Former President has been declining ever since he stepped down, dropping from an initial P4.3 million to the P3.6 million the office will get in the current financial year.

The self-exiled Khama’s budget for his office has been chopped by more than half a million for the financial year 2022-2023, when compared to what he was allocated in the last financial year.
