Government has granted a total of P2.6 million to Big Dawg Productions, a company owned by Thato Sikwane who is popularly known as DJ Fresh, and the Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association (BEPA) to fund music festivals.

Speaking at the launch of the second edition of the DBS Roadshow on Thursday, DJ Fresh said the allocated funds were used primarily to secure the rights to an impressive lineup of 21 music festivals across the country. He added the move was a significant milestone for the DBS Roadshow, a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting Botswana's vibrant entertainment scene. DJ Fresh revealed that the winner of the competition, which will be held in conjunction with the second edition of the DBS Roadshow, will receive a generous reward. "We shall embark on a massive advertising campaign through RB2 and Btv with the winner of the competition taking home a Polo 1.4, 12 months management and recording contract, P100,000 advertising airtime on RB2 and Btv, three music videos and clothing sponsorship for the whole of 2024," he explained.

Additionally, he stated that this year's tour aims to focus on the entertainment at large, covering various artistic genres such as music, comedy and poetry. "In the year 2024, we plan to acquire the rights for around 40 festivals and events. This will include music concerts, fashion, comedy and poetry shows and awards. We will also include the Media awards (MISA Awards)," the former RB2 DJ added. DJ Fresh also expressed his commitment to providing continued assistance to aspiring Batswana artists throughout the programme. "I will be stationed at the Mass Media complex every Monday and Wednesday between January and March 2024 with a team of experts in radio broadcast and production as well as programme managers," said Dj Fresh.

He assured music and cultural enthusiasts to look forward to a plethora of vibrant festivals and events that represent the diverse artistic expressions of Botswana.
