Police are investigating an incident in which an unknown man attacked and raped a 27-year-old woman of Goodhope village on Sunday at around 2am.

According to the police, the victim was with her 61-year-old mother when two unknown men who claimed to be looking for the victim's brother roused the sleeping pair.

Narrating the matter, Goodhope Police Station Commander, Superintendent Batshwari Gaobatelwe said the two were told that the person they were looking for was not around.

The duo became violent and one of them dragged the victim instructing her to open her brother's bedroom and raped her on his bed. He stated that after raping her, the suspects stole a television set and other goods before fleeing the crime scene.

Asked if they knew the suspects, Gaobatelwe said the victim and her mother said they do not know them because it was their first time seeing them. "They said that the suspects were driving even though they failed to identify their car because it was dark. Investigations into the matter are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspects who are still at large," he said.
