Gantsi siblings caught with elephant tusk

It was a bad weekend for two Gantsi siblings who were arrested by police for allegedly being found in possession of an elephant tusk following a tip-off. The two men, aged 25 and 36, were reportedly caught red-handed with the tusk, which they claimed they had found abandoned in the bush.

Gantsi Police Station commander, Superintendent Motlamedi George, said the suspects have been charged with unlawful possession of ivory, contrary to Botswana's wildlife conservation laws.

He explained that the two are currently in police custody whilst investigations continue. George added that brothers are expected to appear before the Gantsi Magistrate’s Court soon for arraignment.
