Four perish in Lesoma road mishap

Four people, three Zambians and a Motswana, died in a road mishap on Saturday morning following a head-on collision between a bus and a truck. No.20 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Meshack Pulenyane said the accident occurred at around 5am between Kazungula and Lesoma.

He stated that the bus was travelling from Gaborone to Zambia whilst the truck was heading towards Nata. "We don't know what caused the head-on collision but investigations into the matter are ongoing. The truck was driven by a Zambian man who also died on the spot alongside two Zambians and a Motswana who were bus occupants," he said in an interview. "The driver of the bus, a Motswana man escaped the accident with minor injuries and was treated and released the same morning." Pulenyane stated that the bus had 20 people on board including the driver whilst the truck had two people on board, the deceased driver and a passenger who sustained serious injuries. He added four people from the bus, all Zambian, sustained serious injuries, and the truck passenger, also a Zambian national, were taken to Zambia for medical assistance. "Other bus occupants escaped the accident with minor injuries and they were treated and released the same day," Pulenyane said.
