Among those expected to deliver speeches during the summit are President Mokgweetsi Masisi, Nigerian afrobeat singer, Davido, Tania Habimana, news anchor at CNBC Africa, Forbes Africa managing editor, Renuka Methil, and Thelma West, founder of Thelma West Diamonds.
Held under the theme 'Entrepreneurial Africa' with Botswana at the centre, the Forbes Under 30 Summit Africa 2023 aims to "harness the power of entrepreneurial capitalism amidst the continent whose growth will help define the 21st century".
According to the 2023–2024 estimates of expenditure from the Consolidated Funds, government has budgeted P25 million for the hosting of this year’s event.
This is despite government receiving criticism as many social media commentators questioned whether the expenditure was necessary for such a gathering which does not have any tangible benefits.
