Despite the court dismissing charges in a P100 billion money laundering case that implicated him, former president Ian Khama says he has been made aware that after this loss in court, the current regime is going to try to discredit and embarrass him with fake news.

Khama was implicated in a case in which former Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) agent, Welheminah Maswabi was charged with financing terrorism, possession of unexplained property and false declaration of a passport. Justice Zein Kebonang of the Gaborone High Court recently acquitted Maswabi of all charges.

Khama now claims that the issue is far from over as the current regime led by President Mokgweetsi Masisi plans to pay individuals to make false revelations about him. In an interview with Mmegi on Wednesday evening, Khama added that all those who plan to discredit him further would never succeed.
