Festive traffic accident death toll hits 28

According to police statistics, a total of 28 people died on the road this past festive holidays from December 21, 2018 to January 3, 2019 out of 20 crashes.

During the same period in 2017, the director of traffic said 29 deaths were recorded out of 24 crashes leaving road traffic accidents being the leading cause of deaths in the country. 

“One accident in which many people lost their lives happened on December 29, 2018, 45 kilometres from Pandamatenga in which a Toyota Quantum knocked from behind a trailer which was towed by a truck while the driver tried to overtake the truck as a result the combi caught fire and six people lost their lives,” said the police.
