Mochudi police are holding a man who is accused of raping his five-year-old daughter during the festive season. Mochudi Police Station Commander, Superintendent Simon Setale, yesterday said the child’s grandmother reported her son-in-law to the police station after he reportedly admitted to having raped his daughter. The alleged victim’s mother is late.

“The grandmother told us that the young man asked her to allow his daughter to visit him for a few days as he wanted to spend time with her. She agreed but was disturbed when she noticed that the child was not her usual self, upon her return,” the station commander said.

Setale said the grandmother examined the child because she suspected that she had been sexually assaulted. In the company of other family members, the grandmother confronted the father, who reportedly caved in and admitted to having raped his daughter.
