FRANCISTOWN: The illustrious career of former deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture (MYSC), Victor Bruno Paledi has come to an end.

Paledi told The Monitor on Thursday that his civil service spanning more than two decades ended last week. “I was hired on a contract which ended last week but it was not renewed,” Paledi briefly confirmed to The Monitor.

The embattled former top civil servant is currently facing some criminal offences together with other bigwigs. Paledi is alleged to have aided former president Ian Khama and former Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) boss, Isaac Kgosi, to acquire ammunition and weapons of war. Sources told The Monitor that the charges are the straw that broke the camel’s back.
