Two men, aged 23 and 63, have been arrested by the police after they were caught red-handed slaughtering a suspected stolen donkey at Tautswe village on Saturday afternoon.
The duo was found by a passerby slaughtering the ass in the bush and reported the matter to the police who subsequently caught them red-handed skinning the suspect donkey which they failed to account for when interrogated. Mahalapye Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Moatlhodi Onalenna said the duo was arrested and police have seized the donkey carcass as an exhibit.
"The donkey does not bear any ear tags nor brandmark for easy identification hence we suspect it might be a stray animal. We are currently looking for the donkey's owner while the suspects are currently in custody for investigations," Onalenna said.
