The suspect was arrested at a nightclub he was heading to when the accident occurred. Palapye Police Station traffic officer, Assistant Superintendent Ntshesane Rammapudi, said the accident happened on Sunday morning at around 4:23am. He explained that the suspect had fled the scene of the accident, but luckily some members of the public witnessed the incident and helped the police to locate the driver. "The deceased, who is likely to be around 25 years old, was rushed to Palapye Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the doctors.
The suspect is currently in police custody for investigations and he is likely to appear in Palapye Magistrates Court anytime this week, facing a single count of causing death through careless driving," he said.
