Dream for better car turns into nightmare

Thapelo Tutuwe had been driving his white 'fongkong' Corolla for three years until last year when the lure to have a nicer car got the better of him.

Although unemployed, the young man lived a better life than most of his peers as his 'Jalopi' sustained him well. Because it was economic and easy to handle, Tutuwe's customised Corolla attracted attention wherever he went and he made good money as an illegal cab operator.

A woman he used to transport then introduced him to a car exporter who would later turn his dream of driving an imported flashy Toyota Run X into a complete nightmare.
