Disgruntled BNF members to hijack meeting

Members of the Temporary Concerned Group are expected to invade Botswana National Front offices in Gaborone on Friday to voice their opposition to the use of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) symbol during general elections.

BNF secretary general Tapiso Kgosikoma has confirmed the planned meeting. The disgruntled members are expected to state their reasons why they are opposed to the use of UDC symbol instead of the BNF brand. The group also wants BNF to pull out of the UDC if other partners in the corporation project – Botswana Movement for Democracy and Botswana Peoples Party - do not accede to the use of the tried and tested BNF symbol.

“Some members of the BNF central committee are expected to come out in the open about their support for the Temporary Concerned Group. Reality on the ground has shown that UDC is hard to sell to the electorates,” said a member of the group.
