Digwa: Political interest stimulated by derisory representation in Boteti

Boteti West legislator, Sam Digwa’s interest in politics began in 1976 while he was in Standard Seven. During that period, he had a teacher who taught them Russian history, and the lessons sparked his curiosity about political systems, governance, and societal development. Writes Mmegi Staffer RYDER GABATHUSE

This interest was further strengthened by the legislator’s reading of influential books such as George Orwell’s satirical allegorical dystopian novella, Animal Farm, whose political themes and narratives deepened his understanding of power, leadership, and social justice. Digwa’s major achievement was when he duly ousted former vice president Slumber Tsogwane after a record 15 years of obstinate bids.
