Defilement on the rise in Machaneng area

A rise in sexual offences involving minor girls is a cause for concern in Machaneng policing area.

Even though he did not have detailed statistics Machaneng Police Station commander, Superintendent Gagopale Gaselarona said they are investigating cases of defilement in which a 12-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl were defiled in Serafhe and Chadibe villages respectively last week.

“Cases of defilement remain a concern in our policing area. Every week we record two to three cases of defilement with the perpetrators being mature, older men who had proposed a relationship to the minors,” Gaselarona said.
