The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) has strongly denied explosive claims circulating on social media that it carried out raids on senior government figures and was blocked from investigations by political interference.

In a firm press release issued on Friday, the anti-graft body dismissed allegations that it raided one Nollen Bome or conducted operations against Minister of State President for Defence and Security, Moeti Mohwasa and Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Onneetse Ramogapi.

Claims that large sums of cash were discovered during such raids were also labelled “completely false” by the DCEC. “The DCEC has received no complaints of corruption against the two ministers or the individual mentioned. Consequently, no raids have been conducted, no cash seizures have been made, and there are no investigations whatsoever against the individuals named,” the statement said.
