Hwenjere is accused of killing Mashinge between January 5 and 8, 2025, by hitting his cousin with a rock before proceeding to behead him, cut off his arm and manhood, and dump his body in a pit latrine. Mashinge was eventually buried without his private parts upon discovery whilst his head and arm were recovered along with the body. Making his second appearance before the Extension II Magistrates' Court this morning, Hwenjere stated that he does not wish to comment or make a bail application despite the prosecution pleading that he be further remanded in custody.
Prosecutor Simon Galebonwe had made a plea before the magistrate that the accused remain in custody as the matter is still at an infant stage. “The investigations are ongoing in this matter. We are still awaiting the forensic affidavit, post-mortem report, and the photo album. With that said may he be further remanded in custody,” Galebonwe stated. When presented with the chance to contend the submissions made by prosecutions by Magistrate Kamogelo Mmesi, Hwenjere simply said, "No".
