Child rapist, murderer sentenced to death

FRANCISTOWN: A 38-year-old Sashemooke man who raped and murdered the daughter of his live-in lover was Thursday sentenced to death for the offence.

In addition, Koolopile Makhura was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping Bame Tebelelo, 14. Makhura committed the offences on September 23, 2019 in Shashemooke.

When delivering the ruling on whether there were extenuating circumstances that warranted the court to pass any sentence other than the death penalty, Justice Lot Moroka yesterday said he came to the conclusion that Makhura’s actions on that fateful day were well calculated.
