More than 80 babies were born in Botswana on New Year's Day.
In an interview with MmegiOnline, the Ministry of Health' s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Malepa Dibonwa, said 84 babies were born in Botswana on New Year's Day and the babies were received by their mothers and health staff with much joy and jubilation.
Giving a breakdown on New Year's Day births, Dibonwa said the Greater Gaborone DHMT received one female from G-West Clinic and BH3 received two babies, a male and a female.
Lesirane recorded a total of 3, a male and two females, while Mafitlhakgosi received one, a female and Otse received a male.
"GGDHMT received a total of 8 babies, 3 males and 5 females. Princess Marina Hospital received a total of 10 babies being 6 males and 4 females. Nyangabwe Referral Hospital received a total of 13 babies, being 8 males and 5 females," he said.
Dibonwa further stated that Mahalapye District Hospital received six babies, being five males and a female, while Greater Selibe Phikwe DHMT received a total of four babies two males and two females.
"Bobonong Primary Hospital received a female, Mmadinare also received two babies, a female and a male and Selibe Phikwe General Hospital also received one male. Kweneng DHMT received 10 babies being four females and six males from Scottish Hospital, while Ngami DHMT had one delivery of a male child, " Dibonwa said.
Furthermore, he revealed that Lutheran Hospital received a total of three babies being two males and a female, while Sekgoma Memorial Hospital received a total of five deliveries being four males and a female.
Tsabong Primary Hospital received only three deliveries being two females and a male while Kasane Primary Hospital received a total of four females.
"In greater Lobatse DHMT, Athlone Hospital received only one male, while Tsopeng maternity had only one female. In Kgatleng DHMT Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital received a total of four deliveries, three females and a male child," he said.
