Mogapi was allegedly assaulted by two unknown men last Monday, who demanded he hand over the company car keys. “Two unidentified men entered the building and made their way to Mogapi’s office, and demanded that he surrender the company car keys to them. When Mogapi asked why and who sent them, they tried to use force to take them, and that’s when an altercation broke out. The security officers then intervened and held the other guy while Mogapi fought the other. Meanwhile, the other individual fled the scene. The security team successfully apprehended the one they were holding, and police were called to take him into custody for questioning,” said a source who witnessed the incident. Mogapi reportedly links the attack to his ongoing dispute with the union leadership, suggesting a possible connection between the two. He has been embroiled in a series of legal battles with his bosses, the BOFUS board, since his suspension alongside two other executives in February this year. The suspensions were allegedly triggered by an anonymous eight-page letter accusing the trio of misconduct. While he was reinstated after successfully challenging the suspension, he has not found peace, as attempts have been made to remove him from his post. Last Friday, Mogapi obtained a temporary court order barring the union leadership from ousting him from his position until his application to set aside the August 11, 2025, Disciplinary Tribunal ruling is resolved. It is said that the BOFUS board has unilaterally stripped the GM of his responsibilities across all entities of the organisation and removed him as a signatory to BOFUS accounts. “Mogapi believes that this is a desperate attempt to get rid of him since he is winning against them in court. They can’t do it legally, now they want to use intimidation,” added the source. Contacted for comment, BOSETU general secretary Tobokani Rari said he is not privy to the details of the incident as the matter was referred to the police. “I don’t know what exactly (happened), except what Mogapi told me. At the moment, there is nothing we can do because the matter was referred to the police, so we want to allow them to handle the issue,” he said.
With his theme of 'Delivering on Our Promise, One Step at a Time', he sought to project an image of a focused, determined leader building a new ‘Rome’. Sadly, parts of his speech were not about laying bricks, but about settling old scores. It is deeply worrying that a head of government would use such a pivotal national address to launch another bitter broadside against the media and his political detractors. His portrayal of the...
